Keeping you updated

Search for Hammerl's remains continues

2011-06-09 17:32
President Jacob Zuma has obtained assurance from Libya that that country will co-operate in trying to locate the remains of photojournalist Anton Hammerl, say government officials.

MY SAY
Are our lives going to or being protected as future journalists, reporters, photographers, broadcasters e.c.t with this kind of negligence I don't seem to think we are protected. We are the ones who will be informing the world of what's happening but are we surely secured? the reason why I point this out is because recently our very own Anton Hammerl was brutally killed by the Libyan forces, and this was kept away from us which i turn to believe was wrong...does choosing to become a journalist a wrong choice? just imagine what Hammerl's family went through and still going through now.

My mom used to tell me that journalism is not a good job, but what if one has a real passion for it? does that mean you should consider otherwise? No... everyone has to follow their passion even if it means giving up other things. My fellow viewers, take this from me it is essential to follow your dreams because they won't even for a day follow you.

Update on Shaun Kingston's injury.

Date: Thursday Jun. 2, 2011 8:32 AM ET

Sean Kingston is expected to be fully recovered in six weeks following his jet-ski accident.

The 'Beautiful Girls' hitmaker suffered a broken jaw, fractured wrist and water in his lungs when he crashed into the Palm Island Bridge in Miami, Florida on Sunday, unnamed insiders told CNN.

The singer was said to be in a "critical but stable condition" in the intensive care unit of Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was in a trauma ward before being moved to an intensive care unit.

Witnesses revealed Sean's lifejacket fell off during the collision, which caused him to sink under the water.

Rescuers Carmen Rivera, Jonathan Rivera and Jimmy Vega -- who were in a boat approaching Palm Island Bridge -- described how they found Sean in a bad way.

Carmen explained: "They were calling us over, telling us, 'He's drowning, he's drowning.' "

Jonathan added: "I pushed him up, and he was vomiting what seemed like water, and then there was some blood coming out."

Jimmy said the singer had a neck injury and was "extremely dazed and in danger of drowning".

Cassandra Sanchez was also riding on the jet-ski with Sean when they crashed, which left her injured and hospitalised, according to an accident report from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
